Alana Bond - Managing Director

Alana Bond is a founding member of Bravura Consulting and currently serves as its Managing Director. Prior to joining Bravura she spent over 3 years at the Johannesburg office of Accenture, an international management consulting company.

Since working at Bravura Consulting, Alana has been involved in developing new BEE strategies for a number of clients across several industries.  Some of her work includes the following projects:

  • With Anglo American, she is currently developing policies and procedures, frameworks, global strategies and implementation programs for Local Procurement, which focuses on the participation of businesses within the mining communities in the mine's supply chain.
  • For Bravura's client base, she identified the key implications of the change in government's Preferential Procurement Regulations and how businesses could use BEE to their strategic advantage, as well as identifying the legislation's short-comings, and made recommendations on how Government could think about procurement more strategically.
  • With a prominent mining company, she developed strategic thinking on the alignment of the Codes, Mining Charter and Minerals Code.
  • For a large BEE investment group, she utilised her extensive knowledge of BEE Ownership requirements to improve the ownership score for the underlying investment, thereby preventing the unwinding of a lucrative deal.
  • For clients such as Bell Equipment, Alcatel-Lucent and The Bond Exchange, she improved their score prior to verification by several levels and developed an integrated BEE strategy linked directly to their business objectives.
  • For Holding companies such as Wiehahn (construction sector) and Grindrod (logistics and shipping), with multiple subsidiaries, she:

  • – Calculated scorecards at business unit level and developed tailored
       strategies for each business unit

    – Built a consolidation model to consolidate all business unit scorecards
       into 1 Group scorecard

    – Developed group-wide initiatives for each element of the BEE scorecard
  • She evaluated calls for a review of the Codes and developed strategic thinking on what the Government should do regarding these issues.
Alana is committed to meaningful and sustainable transformation in South Africa and passionate about the upliftment of everyday people.  As part of this commitment, she serves on the board of the Phakamani Foundation, an organisation operating in Mpumalanga which provides poor women, who have sound micro-enterprise ideas, with the capital and guidance to help them get themselves out of poverty.

Prior to Accenture, Alana obtained a Business Science degree from the University of Cape Town, with majors in Accounts and Finance and Honours in Finance.
