About Us
As part of the Bravura Group, Bravura
Sustainable Development is a division of the Bravura group
and a
niche strategy consulting business specialising in the design and implementation of integrated
Black Empowerment (BEE), corporate social responsibility (CSR) and
sustainable development strategies. We are focused on creating real transformation and sustainable socio-economic development through a strong business case for such activities, which allows our clients to benefit the economies in which they operate while also positively impacting their bottom-line in the long-term.
We have extensive experience across a range of sectors in BEE, local procurement, supplier development, enterprise development and undertaking
global research. Our clients range from large listed and unlisted South African
corporations to multinational companies and we have developed a particular expertise in
mining.
We firmly believe that current global – as well as South Africa-specific – pressures make social, environmental and other sustainable development considerations an
operational necessity for companies that wish to be prosperous in the
long term. However, the complexity inherent in the policies and legislation can lead to a lack of proper implementation and a compliance-only focus, reducing value and impact. We help companies to understand these complexities and develop strategies that work for them.
Our vision is an economy where transformation and sustainable development do not require legal governance but are inculcated in the way in which businesses operate.
Our mission is to provide, through our extensive knowledge of BEE legislation and social development, superior advisory services and strategies, and assist our clients in achieving impact, transformation, sustainable development and the best BEE score possible in the most efficient, effective and innovative ways, within the clients’ key priorities and constraints.

| What is Black
Economic Empowerment?
Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) is a broad initiative to encourage the participation of all previously disadvantaged communities in the formal economy.
Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment has been developed over a number of years, culminating in the Codes of Good Practice released in February 2007. These Codes measure the BEE-compliance of companies out of 100 points, and are typically measured across 7 elements, namely Ownership, Management and Control, Employment Equity, Skills Development, Preferential Procurement, Enterprise Development and Socio-economic Development.

| Our commitment to transformation and Social Responsibility
Bravura Sustainable Development's commitment to transformation stems from its strong belief that South African economic and social transformation is a long term goal and a responsibility of all its citizens.
"It always seems impossible until it's done." - Nelson Mandela
We are passionate about transformation and we don't just tell our clients how to do it best, we lead by example: Bravura
Sustainable Development is a Level 1 Qualifying Small Enterprise with BEE recognition of 169%.
Our BEE Certificate
As part of our commitment to Skills Development, transformation and change, we employed an analyst during 2010, who is a black BCom graduate from a previously disadvantaged community near Kimberley. After completing his internship with us he has now become a full time employee with an exciting career in transformation.
Additionally, we are quite involved with the Phakamani Foundation as part of our Enterprise Development and Socio-Economic Development, Alana Bond, also sits on the Foundation’s board. The Phakamani Foundation operates in the White River area and provides microloans to black women in rural communities, giving them the ability to start their own small businesses and get themselves and their families out of poverty.
